Snowfall swept across northern China on Wednesday, with heavy snow expected in Hebei and Shanxi provinces, as well as Beijing, on Thursday, according to the National Meteorological Center.

The center forecast light to moderate snow or sleet in parts of North China on Thursday. Parts of Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Gansu provinces, and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region will also see snow.

The Beijing Meteorological Service issued a yellow alert for icy roads, the lowest level of the three-tier warning system, as snow began falling on Wednesday morning.

Authorities have warned of slippery roads, reduced visibility, and potential travel disruptions, urging the public to take precautions.

While the north deals with snow and ice, southern China has been hit by heavy rain. Coastal areas in Guangdong province experienced downpours on Tuesday, with Zhuhai city of the province recording its heaviest daily rainfall for March, according to Weather China, a website affiliated with the China Meteorological Administration.
