Hainan communities celebrate Lantern Festival with parades, flower exchanges
Communities across Hainan province were decorated with lights and ornaments on Tuesday in celebration of Lantern Festival. To capitalize on the occasion, local governments organized events blending cultural traditions, folk customs, and contemporary elements.
In Changjiang Li autonomous county, a Lantern Festival parade with 11 floats moved along the main streets and drew crowds of visitors who stopped to watch and take photos.
Since Sunday, the 2026 Hainan Lantern Festival Flower Exchange has been ongoing at the Dongpo Old Wharf in Haikou. The festival reached its peak on the day of Lantern Festival itself. The evening featured a grand parade, along with romantic duet singing, street dancing, and performances that fused elements of traditional Chinese culture.
