China and the United States are maintaining communication regarding a planned visit by US President Donald Trump to China, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said on Tuesday.
The remarks came in response to a media inquiry following reports that Trump is scheduled to visit China in late March and early April.
"Head-of-state diplomacy plays an irreplaceable role in providing strategic guidance for China-US relations," Mao said during a news conference.
