Chinese art troupes take New Year festivities global
Several Chinese art troupes have embarked on international tours to celebrate the Year of the Horse, bringing festive performances to audiences across Asia, America, Europe, and Oceania.
The delegations, which set off on their respective journeys on Feb 14, are visiting eight countries: Greece, Finland, Russia and Belarus in Europe; the United States and Mexico in North America; as well as Australia and Malaysia in the Asia-Pacific region. The tours form part of global Spring Festival celebrations aimed at sharing the joy of the Lunar New Year with overseas communities and international audiences.
Featuring traditional music, dance, acrobatics, and exhibitions of intangible cultural heritage, the performances showcase the richness and diversity of Chinese culture. Audiences have been treated to folk songs, classical instrumental pieces, vibrant ethnic dances, and interactive demonstrations such as calligraphy, paper-cutting, and traditional handicrafts.
Organizers say the overseas tours not only highlight the festive atmosphere of China's most important traditional holiday, but also promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding. Through stage performances and community engagement activities, the troupes are helping to build bridges between people of different cultures while celebrating shared values of harmony, reunion, and hope for the year ahead.
