The event When Science Meets Art was held at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing on Sunday, with the theme "Protecting Glaciers, Keeping Earth Cool" and featuring Tsinghua University's academician Chen Deliang, an acclaimed climate scientist.

Chen captivated the audience with his presentation on the enduring beauty of glaciers. He also played the classical guitar piece, Romance de Amor.

Glaciers are disappearing at an alarming rate due to climate change and the UN General Assembly has declared 2025 the International Year of Glaciers' Preservation.

To many, glaciers are distant and silent. Chen said glaciers are not just natural wonders but also Earth's memory. "As glaciers quietly retreat, they take with them not only ice but also history, culture and the future," he said at the event.

Actress Liu Tao, an active advocate for climate change awareness, shared her experiences visiting glaciers in the Xizang autonomous region. Liu also read an emotional essay written by a high school student during a youth glacier scientific exploration event, highlighting the deep connection between glaciers and the local people.

Adventure explorer Wen Xu shared thrilling tales of his expeditions to Antarctica, describing his journeys of mountaineering, scientific exploration, and glacier protection.
