Chinese defense ministry warns 'Taiwan independence' attempt leads nowhere

BEIJING -- A Chinese defense ministry spokesperson on Thursday warned Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities that pursuing "Taiwan independence" will "bring no good outcome."
The Chinese People's Liberation Army maintains a high state of readiness, intensifies combat training, and stands firm in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, said spokesperson Zhang Xiaogang at a regular press conference.
