Bank offers consumer loans to Taiwan compatriots
The first online consumer credit loan for Taiwan people was offered in the finance market recently, to help compatriots get loans quickly and conveniently.
People from Taiwan don't need to visit a bank to get a loan. Instead, they can apply via mobile phone, with same-day approval, said Fan Chiang-feng, the first user of the platform, who lives in Xiamen, Fujian province.
Fan, who is also deputy director of the Xiamen Taiwan Compatriots Investment Enterprises Association, said the product will help many young people from Taiwan.
Taiwan people may need a loan when renovating a home, buying a car, traveling, or for education and marriage in the Chinese mainland. Without a mortgage, many currently have difficulty getting a loan.
Xiamen Bank evaluates applicants' personal credit, repayment ability and other information to approve applicants. Credit loans can reach up to 300,000 yuan ($41,000).
