Chaohu University admits to spelling mistake in admission letters
Chaohu University in Anhui province has admitted to a misspelling in the admission letters it sent to its 2023 freshmen.
The misspelling was of the Chinese character for "day", which was mistakenly printed as the character for "month". This led some students to question the authenticity of the letters.
The university said in a statement that the mistake was due to "negligence and poor review during printing". It apologized for the inconvenience and confusion caused by the error.
The university said it is reprinting the corrected admission letters and mailing them to the affected students. It also thanked students and parents for their understanding and support.
The university said it is taking the matter seriously and is committed to strengthening its management to ensure that such errors do not happen again. It also said it welcomes the guidance and supervision from the society.
