Women in their 60s show youthful vigor on court
A basketball team composed of older women recently hit the media spotlight and become popular among residents and netizens in Changsha, Hunan province.
Founded in 2011, the 18-person Feiyue women's team — whose oldest member is 65 and whose average age is 60 years? — now play basketball frequently in local gyms and communities in their spare time. They always attract an audience.
Most of Feiyue's players have a sports background. As students years ago, many of them played one game or another, including basketball. Some are former professional athletes, while others simply insist on exercise after work.
Xiao Jing, the team captain, said the players still showed youthful vigor on the court. The women have maintained their physical quickness and strength, and they have a sunny, positive and upward-looking attitude thanks to their basketball training.
"In addition to playing basketball, the players often get together for parties to enjoy their happy lives," Xiao said.
