Foreign Minister Wang Yi Had a Phone Call with German FM Heiko Maas
On the evening of 1 February, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi had a phone call with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas.
Foreign Minister Maas expressed support for China's fight against the novel coronavirus pneumonia. He said that the open, transparent and cooperative attitude and strong and effective measures of the Chinese government are admirable. The German side has already provided the Chinese side with badly needed medical supplies, and is ready to offer more assistance in light of China's needs.
State Councilor Wang expressed thanks to Germany, and shared the latest progress in epidemic prevention and control. He stressed that the Chinese government not only holds dear the life, safety and health of its own people, but is also doing its best to safeguard global public health. The health and normal life of German citizens in China will be cared for, and we have the confidence and ability to overcome the outbreak. China is ready to step up cooperation with Germany and the rest of the international community. It also hopes that Germany will see the outbreak and China's efforts in an objective and rational way, take seriously the authoritative recommendations from the WHO, and make sure that normal interactions between China and Germany will not be affected.
