The musical "The Murder of Hanging Garden," directed by avant-garde theater director Meng Jinghui, will be staged at the Beijing Citycomb Theater from Jan 7 to 19.
The six-scene work starts with a rumor of the murder of real estate magnate Mr. Wang. To find the murderer, Mrs. Wang offers a villa, the Hanging Garden, as a reward for useful information.
In three independent storylines, the musical explores love, friendship and relationships between father and children in the characters' common desire for wealth and fame.
The musical features the typical characteristics of Meng's works, including abstract setting, bizarre storyline and exaggerated actions by performers.
Born in Beijing, Meng is a renowned director in the international theater circle with several well-known works.
