"While I was at college, I was busier than in high school as I had courses from Monday to Sunday, and I felt fulfilled."

Zhang says his time in college taught him two things - how to learn and how to gain access to learn - things he uses for his work in the film industry.

After his graduation in 2010, he got a job in advertising, and it was only a call from Jiang's company to join the editing team for Gone with the Bullets that brought him back to film.

Now, four years later, he has his own studio.

Besides Jiang, Zhang also works with other well-known directors including Wong Karwai, Stephen Chow, and Feng Xiaogang.

"It's a good way to learn film making, as you can have a look at all the material," says Zhang.

"From the camera placements to the lighting, I can learn every aspect.
