China to build first nuclear tech university
China will build a university dedicated to nuclear technology research to meet the talent demands of the country's nuclear industry, the paper.cn reported on Wednesday.
According to the report, China National Nuclear Corp (CNNC), one of the country's largest nuclear companies, has reached an agreement with the Tianjin municipal government to jointly invest in a nuclear technology university in Tianjin.
"The university will focus on establishing the vocational education system, accelerating research, as well as upgrading school equipment," said He Zixing, vice-president of CNNC.
At present, China has seen strong development in the nuclear power industry, which led to a growing shortage of nuclear talent.
After its establishment, the university will be the country's first higher education institute dedicated to research and development in nuclear technologies.
CNNC will also invest in a new high-end industrial development base in Tianjin, promoting the development of the city's industrial restructuring.
