The jurors for the Tiantan Awards and the first movies to show at the annual film carnival, have been announced by the 8th Beijing International Film Festival.

Legendary Hong Kong-based Chinese director Wong Kar-wai will chair this year's Tiantan Award's jury. Organizers unveiled yesterday at a press conference the other six jurors: American director Rob Cohen, Chinese actor Duan Yihong, Polish movie composer Jan A. P. Kaczmarek, Romanian film director Calin Peter Netzer, Swedish director Ruben ?stlund and Chinese actress Shu Qi.

The seven-member jury will select the winners of 10 Tiantan Awards, including Best Picture, and present the awards at the closing ceremony.

The Beijing International Film Festival 2018 will be comprised of seven major events: The Competition Section for the Tiantan Award, Opening Ceremony, Beijing Film Panorama, Theme Forum, Film Market, Film Carnival, Closing and Awards Ceremony, as well as more than 300 relevant events such as Forward Future, Documentary Section, Online Film Section, Film Concert, Film Salon and New Film Release.

Another highlight is the annual "Beijing Film Panorama" which will screen outstanding, classic and rarely seen films in Beijing. According to the first titles released yesterday, the full X-Men franchise, Jurassic Park franchise will have special screening segments.
